I love connecting with students, especially those who might not see themselves in STEM yet. I was once that kid—curious, but not sure if this space was really for me. I love seeing that small spark ignite when we do a cool experiment and their minds start wondering, “how does that work?”. I’m watching a scientist be born.

Whether it’s an unexpected experience or a special piece of clothing unearthed at a thrift store, I see stories all around us. For me, the best stories come from taking on challenges— going vegan on a whim, figuring out how to fix a stove in the middle of a rainy backpacking trip, or diving into a tough experiment in the lab. Things don’t always go smoothly, but that’s part of the story.

Making an impact means staying engaged with the challenges people face and finding ways to help, whether through science or everyday actions. For me, it’s about showing up—whether that’s supporting mutual aid efforts or attending a protest I believe in. It’s important to me to show up for the rights of my neighbors and communities.

I love working with kids, in part because it brings out the most playful parts of myself. Kids have so much freedom in how they express, explore, and create. It’s important to me to nurture that, both in them and in me.

When I was growing up, I was always taught that it’s okay to fail. It’s inevitable. You have to be able to come back from that. I don’t let fear stop me from trying.

I don’t plan everything out—I like to stay open to whatever comes my way, whether that’s trying a new diet or going for a last-minute trip.

I’m always up for something new, even if it’s a little unpredictable. Whether it’s fixing a stove on a rainy backpacking trip or trying a class I’ve never heard of, I find joy in the experience, no matter how messy it gets.

Planning is not my thing. That can make some things difficult, but can also see be a strength. When something goes wrong, I don’t get stuck—I go with the flow. I can pivot easily.

I try to be thoughtful and present in everything I do, focusing on real connections and being intentional about how I show up.
