HOW WE COLLABORATE

Grant Proposals for Content Development

Do you offer complementary resources for promoting inclusive STE(A)M education?

Our hope is that the I Am a Scientist community serves as a gateway to the incredible range of resources available to students and educators. If you’ve created something you think this community would benefit from, let’s chat!

Special Projects, Campaigns, and Media

Looking to create a large-scale campaign, event, media production, or other venture?

We’d love to collaborate with you! We’re always open to new and exciting ideas where we can integrate and grow the IAAS program.

City and Community Initiatives

Help bring the IAAS program in more places across a particular city.

We’re all about expanding our collections of scientists to as many cities and spaces that we can. If you’ve got a group of scientists in your area that you feel would be a perfect match, we’d love to highlight them! Reach out to us with relevant details so we can get the conversations started.

Featured Partnerships

Superhuman Body

In 2023 we helped build out the program for Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels. This cinematic partnership explores cutting edge frontiers of biotechnology and health. The film, in partnership with MacGillivray Freeman’s new IMAX film was released in theaters in April 2024.

We created a collection for Superhuman Body featuring the people behind ground-breaking innovations changing the future of human health.

AMGEN FOUNDATION

Amgen Foundation seeks to advance excellence in science education to inspire the next generation of innovators, and invest in strengthening communities where Amgen staff members live and work.

We profiled 14 different scientists and STEM professionals working across disciplines to pursue research and innovation in healthcare.

LABCENTRAL IGNITE

I Am A Scientist and LabCentral Ignite partnered to feature careers in biotech around Boston city. The resource disparity between a biotech hub like Kendall Square and nearby neighborhoods can be far too wide. We wanted to make sure that the biotech industry is accessible to everyone.

The Life Sciences in Full Color Campaign, in partnership with LabCentral Ignite, features diverse STEM professionals contributing to the future of biotechnology.

Illumina

Through direct programming, nonprofit partners, and engaging their employees, Illumina aims to enable educators to be advocates of genomics and inspire learners to envision themselves as future STEM leaders.

The Illumina Foundation Collection features scientists and STEM professionals working in the biotechnology industry to pursue a healthier future.

Bat Conservation International

Bat Conservation International is a global conservation organization dedicated to ending bat extinctions. They provide exciting opportunities to learn, engage in activities, and discover new media all about the incredible world of bats and why they are so important to people and the planet.

The Bat Conservation International Collection features STEM professionals working across disciplines to better understand and protect bats worldwide.

Society for Science

Society for Science is a champion for science, dedicated to expanding scientific literacy, effective STEM education and scientific research. We partnered with them to highlight unique creative careers in STEM.

NOMINATE A

stem professional

Know someone with a particularly inspiring story in STEM?

We often receive requests from scientists to be featured in the program. If you’d like to nominate yourself or someone else to be added to our database of interested STEM Professionals, please complete the form below.

Alternatively, if you have a collection in mind and potential funding to cover the costs, please submit our partnership form above.

*Please note: Featuring STEM Professionals in our program requires substantial resources. While we'd love to work with everyone, we are limited by our resources, and unfortunately cannot be in touch with every nomination. We will reach out if we have a suitable opportunity to offer you!

How we select scientists:

We believe that everyone working in STEM or related fields has an inspiring story to tell. Here are some things that we’re particularly excited about!

High Impact or Creative Field

We love featuring people working in STEM fields that either (a) support one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or (b) break the stereotypes around what STEM fields can be (e.g. creative technologist or medical illustrator).

Fills a Gap in the Program

There are so many worthy stories and fields of study out there, and we’ve just scratched the surface. Often, when selecting new scientist to feature, we look for careers, real world challenges, identities, or subject matters that haven’t yet been showcased.

Relatability & Dynamicism

While we welcome anyone to engage with our resources, we’re particularly focused on middle to high school students. We look for scientists who are doing work that students care about and / or have personalities and lived experiences that may surprise or delight students.
