Planning Trips.

I love traveling and have been to 21 national parks. One of my favorite parts of a trip happens before I even pack my bags. I love planning—reading everything I can about the destination and coming up with a list of activities, cultural attractions and restaurants I want to visit. Then I prioritize them from must-sees to maybes. Learning the history about a cultural site before you travel makes it even more exciting and meaningful when you actually get there.

Watching Movies.

Rom-coms are my favorite genre, like Crazy, Stupid Love and Notting Hill. I also love family dramas. In a parallel universe, I would’ve enjoyed a career as a film critic. On the flip side, I don’t like watching tv shows. It’s too long a commitment to get to the punchline. I know that by the end of a movie, there's an ending I'll be satisfied with… (hopefully).

Coffee.

Growing up in an Indian Pakistani household, tea is huge and was made three times a day. It’s not my thing, but caffeine is, so I looked for alternatives. I got really into coffee. Plain, black coffee. I'm learning about different styles, like Turkish and Armenian coffee, and how they're brewed to understand what goes into actually making a good cup of coffee.

Learning Languages.

I’m fluent in Urdu and English, took Russian in high school, and Italian and Spanish post-college. I’m currently learning Bengali. Learning local languages for travel helps me connect with locals. I think it shows you respect their culture, want to learn about it, and you’re putting forth effort to do it.

Adrenaline Rushes.

I went cliff diving in Cancun, Mexico, and jumped into waterfalls in Puerto Rico’s rainforest. Utah has one of three bobsledding rings in North America, so when I went to the Sundance Film Festival there, that was top of my priorities list! I’m planning to go skydiving in January. Anything I can do to get my heart racing is on my bucket list.

A Little About Me

I believe learning to really listen to others is key to growth.

I go into conversations open to hearing someone else's opinion. Putting my own beliefs aside allows me to see a different point of view. I digest it all, and then take a little time to listen to myself, too, so I can grow in ways that are true to me, and act in ways I’ll look back on and be proud of.
I like chasing new experiences.

I don't use social media too much, but If I am on it, it’s Instagram, and I'm looking for things that are happening around me. Whether it's a St. Patrick's Day pub crawl or a mixology class at The Victorian—an iconic Santa Monica restaurant and bar—I'm excited to try things I haven’t tried before.
I love a good game night.

I love spending time with friends, and am a huge dinner party and game night type of person. I’m also a big fan of Friendsgiving or Christmas dinners, and really into any chance to have a little fun with others.
Community service is one of my biggest passions, and I love to spend time volunteering.

I founded my own organization in high school, partnering students with local nursing homes to organize different activities for residents. I’ve done beach cleanups and volunteered in homeless shelters. I love being able to use my research skills to forward a cause I'm deeply driven by.

People describe me as..

Compassionate

I truly enjoy the social impact of my work and the ability to use my knowledge and abilities to give back in a meaningful way to the community. Racial and ethnic equity are also really important to me.
Fun-loving

I love tapping into everything the world has to offer from cliff jumping to exploring new cultures to going out on the town.
Authentic

I communicate honestly and openly with my peers and colleagues, including about my skill set, willingness to learn, and my desire to take on leadership roles on team projects. It also means being both receptive to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Intentional

When I look at my work, it is always through a lens of promoting diversity and inclusion. I’m excited by how my career has allowed me to contribute to social impact and justice.
Social

Whether trying activities like spikeball, hosting a game night, attending local events, or experiencing friends’ cultures, like Persian New Year, I love spending time with friends.
